TMNT, is the fourth movie in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, coming after 14 years since the third movie. Unlike the 3 movies up till now, this movie is in complete CGI, which may dissapoint some fans and movie goers, but it completely makes sense to see 4 Ninja’s performing unbelievable stunts on New York city roof tops, than see a CGI integrated live action movie.
The movie continues the story from Movie 3. Arch enemy Shredder is dead. The Ninja team no longer exists. Leonardo is somewhere in Central America, apparently in training, while the rest are in New York with jobs (Donatello is Tech Support, Michelangelo is Clown, while Raphael has become some sort of a night time Vigilante). Inevitably, something big is afoot as Max Winters, head of a Business Empire is planning a grand scheme with a collection of 3000 year old stones. Eventually it is upto Leonardo to come back, and lead the time while saving the neighbourhood, New York city and ultimately the worl itself.
Nothing new to offer from the story, while there are a lot of other good things. The animation is well done, which allows for some great “stunt” sequences while much of the movie focusses on the team rebuilding. Humour is too little and there is almost no Ninja action in the first half of the movie. Yet, considering its short duration (80 minutes) it is fast paced with some good voice acting. All in all a good movie, but not great. Much more was expected.
